Tattooed Women, Do You Have Any Tattoos on Your Ankle/leg? if Not Then Why? Is a Sleeve Better on Arm or Leg?
Question by vmp009: Tattooed women, Do you have any tattoos on your ankle/leg? If not then why? Is a sleeve better on arm or leg?
This made me curious ever since I read someone else’s similar questions. I have tattoos on each side of my ankle and just assumed that it never looked bad or bothered anyone, since I’ve gotten all compliments. I never understood though why people are saying that tattoos on the leg only look right on “certain” women who know how to pull off that look. What does that mean? I like the way a leg sleeve looks (a small one) + it can easily be concealed when needed. Also, why would anyone think it looks too masculine for a women to tattoo her leg.- Most guys I see have their arms & back, not their legs!
Thanks!

I will say that leg tattoos (or sleeves at least) are more common on guys, but I don’t think they’re necessarily more masculine. I think leg tattoos can look great.

I have a tattoo on my ankle. It doesn’t quite go all the way around and I do plan on finishing it, as well as getting one on my other ankle. For me, I would get my legs covered before my arms. It’s easier to cover if you need to do so. I wear jeans most of the year anyway, so it would be less likely to fade.
To each their own. Put your tattoos where you want them, not where other people think they should be.
I asked a question about a tattoo and instead of ideas which I asked for, I got some answers like ‘you’re’ dumb’ ‘don’t do it’ etc. I think if tattoo is small and beautiful everyone likes it, I’ve never heard that person would criticize it. The problem comes when tattoo is too big…
What for answers here on yahoo, people feel safely hidden behind their avatars and dare to tell you things which would never be said loud eye to eye. Some of them maybe even don’t really think what they say, maybe it’s a bad day:)
I like leg sleeves on women…they are less popular than arm sleeves, more original.
I am female, age 48 and I currently have 25 tattoos and plan to get more. I have a lower leg sleeve on one of my legs. The theme of the tattoos all represent very important stages of my life.
I don’t care what anybody else thinks about my tattoos. They are on my body because I like them. However, I am tired of hearing people say that tattoos are not feminine, that I must be trashy or a “dyke” or I am just seeking attention. I never try to conceal any of my tattoos for any reason. I am fortunate enough to have a job where I am totally accepted for how I look and I do not have to hide them when working.
By the way, my husband has no tattoos whatsoever, but I have a 19 year old daughter and she currently has 6 tattoos and she also plans on getting more.
I have a tattoo on my leg and i hate it its chavy. I think a leg sleeve looks awesome any one get away with it
Eff what anyone else says about YOUR art! If you are happy with it, it doesn’t matter!
I LOVE my lower back tattoo, and calf tattoo, and left breast tattoo, and left butt cheek tattoo, and girl bit tattoo, and my group of three tattoos from the nape of my neck to the middle of my shoulders… I could care less what others say about them. I do get somewhat defensive of my lower back tattoo, because back when I got it done, not every one had them, and I’m not a tramp. All my tattoos are younger than my 9.5 year relationship.
I personally wouldn’t have my arms done, but I can admire the ink that women have on their arms if it is tasteful. To each their own…
i have a couple tats on my legs, one on my ankle. i’ve never thought about it not looking ‘womanly’ or anything.
i personally think sleeves look better on the arm, in men and woman, but some people can pull of leg sleeves awesomely. leg sleeves also have the advantage of being easily concealed, as you said. arm sleeves you’re pretty much gonna see, unless you wear long sleeves all the time.
i lke leg tats, but arm sleaves are better.
I have no tats on my arms cuz I don’t think it would look right. I do however, have many on my legs. I am in the process of sleeving.
“Better” is subjective. Get the tattoo wherever you feel happiest with it. Historically in the Western World, tattoos were gotten by men, and many military and sailing men would get them on their arms, which is why the arms/upper body is seen as more “masculine” an area for a tat. However, women are slowly changing that perception by insisting they get the tattoo in the place where it feels right for them, not what the tattoo artist thinks is appropriate. That said, you may experience some discrimination in public if they’re on the arms due to that outmoded sexist way of thought. However, the placement is the choice of the person being tattooes, as they’re the one what will have to live with it.
gotta love tramp stamps
@jafoosy sure =) lmao
@MsCandyRockz My god!, can’t you do slightly better than that.
OMG most of those TATS are so bad I hope they were done in high school..
But most people that get TATS aren’t good looking anyhow so what the hell good ink bad ink, it’s all the same.
